How to choose a body sculpting clinic in Nairobi

A checklist you can use on any clinic in Nairobi, including ours. Ask these nine questions before you pay anyone.

Body sculpting is unregulated enough in Nairobi that the quality difference between two clinics charging the same price can be large. Dream Body Kenya has operated for 10 years, and these are the things we would ask before booking any clinic.

1. Are you assessed before anything is switched on?

A clinic that puts you straight on a machine does not know your history, your skin or your goal. You should be measured, asked about surgery, pregnancy, medication and medical conditions, and told which treatments are wrong for you.

2. Which machines do they have — and can they name them?

Ask what the treatment is called and what it does. Fat reduction, skin firming and lymphatic drainage are three different jobs needing different equipment. A clinic with one machine will recommend that machine for everything.

At our Kileleshwa clinic the work is done with ultrasonic cavitation, radiofrequency, HIFU, wood therapy, vacuum therapy and manual lymphatic drainage, and we will tell you which of those your plan uses and why.

3. Who is actually treating you?

Ask whether the person holding the handpiece is trained on that specific machine. Ask how long they have been doing it. This is a fair question and a good clinic answers it without defensiveness. At Dream Body Kenya, treatments are handled by degree-trained therapists with at least 7 years of experience.

4. Do they tell you what will not work?

The strongest signal of a clinic worth trusting is hearing no. If you have significant loose skin, more fat reduction will make it worse. If you are three weeks post C-section, the answer should be come back later. Anyone who says yes to everything is selling, not treating.

5. Are the claims realistic?

  • Centimetres in the treated area, not kilos on the scale.
  • A course of sessions, not one visit.
  • Gradual change over weeks, with maintenance afterwards.
  • Walk away from guaranteed kilos, permanent fat loss in one session, or before-and-after photos that are clearly a different body.

6. Do you get the plan in writing?

Which areas, which treatments, how many sessions, what it costs, what to expect at each stage. If it is only spoken, expectations drift.

7. Hygiene and privacy

Look at the treatment room, not the reception. Clean linen changed between clients, single-use consumables, a private room with a door, and somewhere proper to change. For many women a women-only space matters too — ours is women-only.

8. Is the price clear before you start?

Per session, and for the full course. Ask what is not included. Any clinic can publish prices; we publish ours, and you should be able to see a figure before you commit anywhere.

9. Can you get there consistently?

This is the one people underestimate. A course means six to ten visits. A clinic 40 minutes away in traffic gets skipped, and a skipped course gives no result. Choose somewhere you will genuinely keep going to.

The cheapest session is not the cheapest result. Six sessions somewhere you trust beats twelve somewhere you do not.

Frequently asked

What should I ask a body sculpting clinic in Nairobi before booking?

Whether you get a proper assessment first, which machines they use and why, who is treating you and what training they have, how long the clinic has operated, what results are realistic, and the full price for the course in writing.

How do I know if a clinic is safe?

They assess you before treating, ask about pregnancy, surgery, medication and medical conditions, refuse treatments that are not appropriate, and keep visibly clean, private treatment rooms.

Is a cheaper clinic a bad clinic?

Not automatically. But a price far below everyone else usually means fewer machines, less training, or a session too short to do anything. Ask what the session actually includes.

Do I need a doctor on site?

For non-surgical contouring, no. You do need trained therapists who know when to refer you to a doctor and say so. Our treatments are performed by degree-trained therapists with at least 7 years of experience.

How many clinics should I visit?

Two or three free assessments is sensible. Compare the plans you are given, not just the prices.
